Baclofen

Baclofen (also referred to as Kemstro or Lioresal) is used in patients with spastic movements, such as those resulting from spinal cord injuries and various kinds of sclerosis; Baclofen is also applied in cases of including persistent or bothersome hiccups. The drug’s active component is a substance based on gamma-aminobutyric acid, which is a biologically active substance found in plants and in brain and other animal tissues; it is a neurotransmitter that inhibits activation of neurons.

It is important to mention that Baclofen stands out among similar medicines for its retained efficacy even after a long period of constant use, which means that is it is by no means an addictive drug.

Your prescriber may administer you starting your Baclofen therapy with taking as little as 15 mg dose divided in two takings per day. As the therapy continues, the dose of Baclofen increases until it reaches the maximum daily dose of 80 mg. consult your doctor for more details.
